The Kalahari Melon is indigenous to our region. It evolved in the Kalahari Desert, and is the most drought-resistant and hardy plant that grows in the area. When the rains don’t come and traditional crops fail, the Kalahari Melon is still standing.
The local farming community was recently devastated by the worst drought in 80 years. By developing a market for Kalahari Melon Seed Oil, we hope to bring back economic activity to our area.
The return of economic activity will bring back the jobs lost during the drought, and provide food, shelter and security to our community. As employment returns, social problems and conflict will decrease.
